The car was built for Dawn and Steve Smith by Legacy Innovations, LLC in York, Pennsylvania. Together with custom Corvette expert Rod Saboury, they built the LiRSE tube chassis using DSE suspension components, and performed custom modifications such as the quarter flares and widening the rear body 4 inches.
The engine is a small block Chevy with 350 Chevrolet roller motor, Edelbrock HP aluminum heads, custom built Billet individual throttle body Cross Ram Fuel Injection and BS3 (Big Stuff) Phantom Ignition. The whole engine compartment is a work of art. The special Legacy Bronze Metallic paint contrasts Burnt Gold coves. The flushed trim and badges are gorgeous. Then totop it off they used the Keisler SS700 5-speed transmission to deliver the power. It comes with both a hard top and soft top. The custom dash wrap and console are all part of the Legacy custom interior.
The ’50Eight’ Corvette was originally built to display at the 2013 SEMA Show in Las Vegas where it was the Goodguys Gold Bar winner. It went on to win First in Class at the 2014 Detroit Autorama, and was one of the Top Five Finalists in the Goodguys Street Machine of the Year selection in Columbus in 2014.
