Dale Earnhardt’s NASCAR Nova

1977 Chevy Nova driven by Dale Earnhardt, Sr

Fans of Cars On Line.com are aware that we’ve been promoting a big premier sale for RKM Collector Car Auction in Charlotte, North Carolina. As an example of the type of important collector cars they will offer they showed us Dale Earnhardt, Sr’s 1977 Chevy Nova race car to be offered in this auction. ┬áRKM just told us they would be selling the 1977 Chevy Nova driven by Dale Earnhardt, Sr in 1986 at Daytona. This car has a great story too. It started life as a Pontiac Ventura. Earnhardt’s Ventura wore Wrangler colors back then. But Dale, Sr found out the Nova front end gave him better draft so he changed the front end with a ball-peen hammer and a hacksaw making this car into a Nova. He also changed his number to No. 8 in tribute to his father Ralph Earnhardt, and campaigned Mr. Goodwrench colors for the first time at the 1986 Goody’s 300 at Daytona International Speedway. That was the race where he passed Morgan Shepherd with two laps left to win this NASCAR contest. You never see any of the Intimidator’s race cars on the market. For a race car collector this is a rare and unexpected opportunity to obtain an historic car.

This car has been SOLD.

The RKM Collector Car Auction will be held October 31st through November 3, 2013 at the Charlotte Convention Center.
